"Webb was asked how he would use Joe Webb if he could be a coach for one game day." What kind of a question is that? Go Joe!

thetruthincAug. 29, 1211:56 PM

The only thing the vikings need to "groom" the one dimensional Joe Webb for is the bench where he belongs!!! Face it, Webb will never be a starting QB in this league, time to cut this bum loose. He cannot read a NFL defense, he can only look for his primary reciever and when that reciever is covered he immediately abandons the play and looks to run. His accuracy is Arena league caliber at best, and he can only run one play and that is to take the snap from the shotgun, look off his primary reciever and then hope there is enough room to take off and run. That's great for one or two plays but every defense in the league knows this one dimensional bum cannot do anything but run so they stack the line of scrimmage and he is immediately shut down. What a complete joke!!!

Webb is about the same size as Johnson in Detroit. I'm not saying he would be another Megatron. I am saying that a guy who is 6'4 220lbs and fast should be lining up as a WR on a team with too few playmakers at that position instead of riding the bench. I thought the whole idea was to get the best athletes on the field to make plays. This continuing to groom him to be a back up QB doesn't make team sense. Are they thinking he'll be trade worthy in the future? This was Childress' deal with Webb. How long with the ghost of Chilly past haunt this team?

I believe in ya Joe. And after watching Viking football for over 40 years, I know true talent when I see it! It's to bad you have so many ignorant "hatas".

Just a thought, you take a guy like Webb, at six feet four inches, two hundred and twenty pounds with his speed, faster than most corner backs. If he could ever learn to cover receivers, he would be a awesome CB. He would even match up well, covering Calvin Johnson, who is over matched, for ninety nine percent of the cb's in the league. However not dissapointed, having Webb, play QB, but he still needs to learn to find, secondary and third receivers, and to be able to read defenses better.

I was excited for Webb alot as well. Let's be honest here-he outplayed Ponder last year, plain and simple. However, Webb looks horrible and lost this year. It's tough to say, if he can be a starter in this league. Should Ponder sit the last preseason game? NO!!!!! The guy needs to practice.

Making Joe a QB was an interesting experiment. He is obviously so athletic, he can play the position almost passably. I totally agree with TheTRUTHINCs comments, however. He'll never be the real thing. Currently Joe's talent is going to waste - at a time when we need more WR talent (what he was drafted for) or why not try him at CB? Fraziah, Speilhead, Ya gotta let go of the idea he's a QB - he's not. Ponder may never be MVP level but he IS a real QB. Put Joe's prodigious talent to work where we can use it!

Anyone who believes Webb is even capable of being a backup in this league understands nothing about football. Watch any opposing team that has achance to prepare for him and he becomes an absolute failure.

He is not a quarterback, he is an athlete. With as much help as this teams needs, I would think he would be a great fit at WR. He is not, nor will he ever be considered a long term fix at QB, so why do the Vikings keep trying to make him fit that mold?

"Watch any opposing team that has a chance to prepare for him and he becomes an absolute failure." Too bad Joe rarely gets the chance to play. I would guess he has taken less than half the snaps as Ponder in his lifetime. They gave Tjack 5 years to improve, they've given Joe about 5 games. Too bad. They only way to know for sure is to give Joe a full season at QB. I see much higher odds of Joe making it than Ponder, who looks absolutely terrible considering all the experience he has. Ponder talks a great game, rarely delivers. Joe talks modest, delivers the goods much more often than Ponder.
