They have a lot to prove and until they do, I am not going to buy into the hype or hold my breath either. I wish them luck though.

Win and they will come! This first game should be more then just a win, it should be a statement. This team needs a big win too show they are much better then the bottom feeders they're playing. Then, continue hammering the rest of the patsies, along with a win at Iowa and homecoming will fill the stadium and bring back the students for game days.

After so many years of futility on the gridiron accompanied by so much pre-season hype, I will remain skeptical about the Gophers until I have seen them play a few games. Even though Gray has proclaimed that he expects to have a great year, I will need to actually see that happen until I buy into it. I will not at all be surprised if the Gophers struggle once again in their opener tonight in Sin City, get behind early and then leave it up to Shortell to try and rally the team for a come-from-behind win over the Runners. Gray has been a 50% completion QB at best who ran more than he passed. If he continues in that mode tonight, it will be a long season for the Gophers and he will finish the season as a receiver and occasional QB. I wish them well but I have seem this kind of hype too many times before to get caught up in believing it until I actually see it happen on the field. If the team finishes at or near .500, it will be a successful season for them.

Great way to build interest in the team...Play at 10pm and have the game on a channel no one gets. Wait ! Wait! the entire senior fan base will be sound asleep by kick-off. Who or how can they sched. games at times no one will care about. Thanks Joel.......

They beat Iowa last year...win at least one of the border battles (Wisconsin/Iowa) each and every year and they have me for a fan!

I am confident that these coaches will deliver a program we can all be proud of and view as successful. I look for improvement tonight from last year and expect improvement every week.

The Mystery for Kill is his recruiting at this level. He has 6 recruits for next year and virtually every other successful program has at least 20!!

Finally a coach that gets it! I feel so much better about this program and the direction it is headed. It sounds like he actually has a plan to build a program over the course of the next 3-5 years. How refreshing, instead of talking the talk I believe he is actually walking the walk.

Getting football powerhouses like Division 2 N.D. State off the non-conference schedule can certainly propel the Gophers to near .500 overall records.
