One can only hope....

Now that teams have been so successful getting the taxpayers to fund stadiums, the next step will be getting them to pony up for players salaries. First step is to start threatening to trade players...

This is "routine" and happens "all the time"? Then why don't we see Jeter, A-Rod, Verlander, Miggy Cabrera, Pujols, Posey, Sabathia, Kershaw, etc. all on waivers right now too? Because other teams DON'T put their franchise player on waivers unless they really ARE shopping him!

This is smoke screen to distract the fans while Terry Ryan renews Ron Gardenhires life time contract.

Trade Joe and fire Gardy.

Truckman182Aug. 29, 12 9:14 PM

Deal him away and unload his ridiculous contract. He was suppose to hit for power not slap singles around. No heart, no fire= no team championship....

All you Mauer bashers would have been screaming at the top of your lungs FOR him had they let him walk a few years back. His contract is NOT an albatross, the ownership is loaded. His contract is NOT all for "baseball" part of it had to be paid to the man so he stayed and in turn so they got their stadium built. He's one of the best hitters in the game. Period. Don't think so? Then why is he still in the Top 10 in intentional walks, THE single most telling stat when it comes to determining what the opposition thinks of a hitter. Trading Joe Mauer heading into the prime years of his career would be the WORST move in Minnesota Twins history. Period.

Love watching Mauer play the game, wish we had more on our squad like him.

Putting Joe on waivers must have lit a fire under his $$$. 3 for 5 tonight with a triple.

freedubayAug. 29, 1210:04 PM

fans need to get over how much Joe makes. The Twins haul in plenty of money to pay him with tons leftover to stuff their own pockets. The sad thing is nobody put a claim for him. That'll hurt the old ego.
