GM Ryan indicates it's an important time for Plouffe

  • Article by: JOE CHRISTENSEN , Star Tribune

Twins General Manager Terry Ryan said Trevor Plouffe has the skills it will take to hold down the team's third base job, but it will come down to performance. Plouffe is batting .154 (8-for-52) with no home runs since his return from a bruised thumb injury suffered in July.

This should be an important time for Gardy, Andy & Vavry!!!! Ryan should also be on notice as he thought this team could be competitive with the crappy starting rotation he left spring training with.

Sano is the third baseman of the future for the Twins, not Plouffe.

Plouffe would not be a starter on any other team in MLB...anyone who thinks otherwise is kidding themselves!!

Just watch. Plouffe won't do anything down the stretch to justify the Twins to say he's their third baseman of the here and now. Plouffe will scufle, as Casilla has scuffled in his six or seven opportunities to secure the secondbase job. One would also have to say Dozier and Florimon have struggled as well. Why is this? Is it a problem by the scouts and Front Offioe, drafting and developing players that have a low self-esteem, or aren't very coachable? Or is there a problem with the manager and his coaches? Is Gardy and staff doing enough to encourage and develop their young players? Aree they helping them overcome their struggles? I'd say the Twins are guilty of all the examples I cited. Time for Gardy and company to go. Its just not right saying guys like Valencia, Plouffe, Dozier, Hendricks, etc...aren't good enough players. The manager and his staff are also a big part in their failures.

What about an update on P.J. Walters? Haven't heard anything about his rehab in a couple of weeks.

Is there any accountability for the management saying at the beginning of the year that the Twins had a solid pitching rotation, only to have 0 original starters left in August?

If you would have traded or signed Beltre years ago, Plouffe would be an alternative to backup or take over down the road. Beltre would have secured 3rd base for years.
