Stratosphere ride once again leaves 24 riders up in the air

The Dutch-made ride stalled on opening day and at Wisconsin fair.

put up a sign that says "EXTREME Stratosphere, now with random stoppage!" and charge double. kids like that.

Does the video remind anyone else of Beverly Hills Cop III when Eddie Murphy climbed that ride to save those kids? Glad everyone is safe.

This is the same ride that had the same problem at the Wisconsin State Fair last week!

well with the costs of the midway tickets, at least these people got their money's worth from a ride duration standpoint.

tooo much safety ... or toooo little operator training... hmmmmm. I think the days of hiring drunks, felons and day-loborers to run complex computer controlled ride-equipment is about over. Most of the folks running these rides know nothing about hydraulics, electricity, computers or engineering - to them its part A inserted into slot B - tighten bolts till can't. disaster waiting to re-happen. Next year - $5/ride.

I woudl have gone nuts being stuck up there. Now we know it was 40 minutes, which was bad enough. But at the time, you have no idea of how long it will be.

For quite a while my policy on rides has been, "Don't go on anything that's been recently assembled". You rarely hear about things like this happening at Valley Fair or other amusement parks, but at state and county fairs, it seems pretty frequent.

Better to have the computer shut it down at the first sign of trouble than the first sign of trouble be the sound of tearing metal. But I gotta admit the first poster has a fun idea. What better time to spend with a sweetie than stuck in the air????
