I am sure he is a nice guy, but I have never been impressed. "Lulls" are not supposed to happen for that long a period of time. I think you honestly could put a quick defensive back in his position and do better. Want to discuss the other two on the defensive line? Allen is THE only legit pass rusher and Williams is decent against the run. Other than that, no long time MN viking fan is going to mistake them for the "Purple People Eaters" of old.

Ray Edwards is really lighting it up in Atlanta.

Here's a prediction: Brian Robison will have 10+ sacks and at least one blocked punt this year! He just missed blocking several last year.

It would be great to have him and Allen make plays, like sacks in the 3rd and 4th Qtr when they have meaning......I am really tired of stats or contract padding that means more to the player than the team victory! Give me a a sack or a stop on a final stand to hold a lead or get the ball back for our final drive and I will start to get excited about these guys again. A sack celebration when your down 20pts doesn't look anything but foolish... Hope they do get it done, it has been a while.

smartmoney61 - I think you might be being sarcastic but Edwards had 3.5 sacks and 33 tackles and 0 forced fumbles. Robison had 44 tackles 8 sacks and 3 FF. I would say that's an improvement over Edwards who underestimated the impact of Allen on the left side. comment229 - The Vikes led the league in sacks last year with 50, so it's not all Allen.

Agree with the line coach about rotating the linemen, especially if our starting linemen get fatigued, with long drives. Keep them fresh by rotating, so we have a fresh group, in the fourth quarter of games, when we lost most of our games last year.

What the Vikes D lacks is true depth. Without it, you can forget about an effective rotation.
