He has a bruised humerus bone and could have recovered in weeks. Now it appears his time with the Twins is over.

So the Twins have the worst medical staff in pro sports, correct?

At some point players should be paid based on performance rather than this guaranteed salary crap. Make them actually earn their money for a change. You get hurt....bummer...make a percentage of your salary, not the whole thing.

@elguevon1 I've had the same thought, but the players union would never go for it.

elguevon1: Could not agree more. This is all about baseball letting the players union have way too much power. In the NFL, only some part of their contracts are guaranteed money so they can correct horrible contracts like this. Baseball, run by Selig, is way too player friendly.

All a person can say regarding the Twins is: What next? Another thing one can say is: 114-170 since the last time the Twins were in the playoffs. That is 56 more losses than wins the last two years. I think I can honestly say that every team the Twins have played this year is better than they are in almost all aspects of the game. Except maybe the Cubs.

He had one really good year here. His second season for 8 million was okay at best but he did at least pitch. This year's 8 million was trash but nowhere near what he did to NY. Igawa also has them locked into another deal. If people think the Twins are the only ones that make bad moves they are seriously just too isolated to know anything better. Nishi doesn't look quite as bad compared to those deals but of course NY has some money to burn.

The silver lining is that we have had a chance to audition some others to see if any are worth having in the rotation for next season. It would have been nice to be able to trade him at the deadline, however.

Twins staff needs EVERYTHING replaced....trainers, owners, managers, coaches and players......tired of the complacency here...

Twins have an excellent medical staff. This guy's shoulder apparently isn't made for pitching at the major league level. Too bad there isn't a scan that will predict such things.

Isn't this something Ryan said needed fixing is how medical issues are handled or in this case bungled, again! This should have been diagnosed months ago. Last year you had all the mystery over Mauer, Morneau, Span and others. Players who have left the Twins have openly pointed out how poor the medical staff is. So far Ryan has done nothing he claimed he rode back on his white horse to do. The talent level is horrid, especially in the minors, fundamentals are terrible with missed bunts, hit and runs, terrible situational hitting, fielding and base running and more. Players still seem to be able to decide when they play or don't. The team really needs a shake up from the Pohlads down including the GM, coaches at the major league and minor league level and all the scouts. Who in the world recommended Nishi for example.
