Why are the crowds consistently there? All of the TV stations talk it up because they TOO are out there. I've often wondered if Ed Murrow could have figured this one out???? You, the reader, know the answer!!!

It is time to make it more affordable if at the very least on more days. Attendance would increase and the laws of supply and demand would take care of the lower price “as more at less equals more”. :) After all the gaps in the fence are far and fewer between for the less fortunate.....

How can it be made more affordable? $12 admission is cheap. If you want $9 admission, all you need to do is buy tickets ahead of time.

I only go once every 4-5 years and am usually out of there after about 5 hours. Now if they brought back live auto racing Id go every year again

@ Jimmvy22 - But perhaps the Grandstand should have a separate entrance so that people don't have to walk through livestock [swine flu?] yards simply to see a good music/comedy performance or auto race.

Come to think of it, perhaps in honor of the "Twin Cities" there are twin disease threats at the State Fair: either (1) Swine Flu or (2) West Nile Virus.

How, pray tell, does a grandma "smell a little funny"? Does she smell different from a mom? A grandpa? Does she smell of mothballs? medications? Does she smell musty? Does she have body odors? I can imagine the outrage if the word "grandma" had been replaced with, say, a word designating a person of a certain color or race or religion. Myself a grandma, I bathe daily and use Aveda products.
