'I'm blessed:' Concordia player gets second chance

After life on the streets and failure in school, Concordia-St. Paul football player Jermaine Clemon found "Mom and Dad," a stable life - and hope he wants to share.

Great story but why is there even a need for such a situation to exist? That is, where were his parents and why on earth weren't they involved in his life and supportive of him? Spare me the usual poor me ain't it awful explanations or justifications, please!
