A lot of this so called political divide is nothing more than media hype. For proof, you have to look no further than the voter turnout numbers. If it was as big as the media likes to say it is, voter turnout would be much higher. There is a lot of people out there that don't care at all about politics. Then you have the people who are moderates and finally the die hard wingers who are definitely in the minority.

Just look at your friends, and even family, and think about how many of them you really know all of their political views. Think about how many of your friends have opposing views. How many people have you stopped being friends with due to their political beliefs?

While you can say that the two parties are getting farther apart, you also have to look at how they are getting closer to each other. They probably have more similarities than differences. Unfortunately, a lot of the similarities are not good traits.

The majority of the people are in the same spot they have always been, with many thinking it doesn't really matter who wins.

Ramesh Ponnuru's article is by-lined "RAMESH PONNURU , Star Tribune" on the Commentaries index page and "RAMESH PONNURU , Bloomberg News" on this page. At the end of the article readers discover that "Ramesh Ponnuru is a senior editor at National Review." My objection to Ramesh Ponnuru's discussion of my supposed opinions about political discourse is personal; he's glibber and more superficial than I am. He focuses on feelings where I'm much more inclined to focus on reason and logic.

Well, DanielDay, Ramesh Ponnuru has written one column claiming that Democrats are distorting Paul Ryan's budget and another arguing that "We shouldn't expect [the ration between pay in male- and female-dominated occupations] to ever rise to 100% or even want it to." Does that help you decide?

Back to distorting Paul Ryan's record.... Ryan's fingerprints are all over the Republican effort to walk back Roe vs Wade. Paul Ryan co-sponsored a national Personhood Bill with then-Representative Akin; Paul Ryan supported HR 3's differentiation between rape and "forcible" rape (for which Akin substituted the word "legitimate"); Paul Ryan supported the so-called "Let Women Die" Bill. Today Mitt Romney announced that his campaign supports an exception for abortion in the cases of rape and incest. Who's distorting Paul Ryan's record?

As I told someone I knew in another country years ago, if our enemies were smart they would do nothing. Because without an external enemy we would eat ourselves alive from the inside out. They could then just walk over us and collect the salvageable. This article is very smartly conceived. Really, we ought to laugh at us more often...we are ridiculous sometimes.

Since Joe Biden was in town today, is this column meant to catch his attention?

The media is 90% liberal so all news is skewed through mostly liiberalism.
