Even if Adrian Peterson returns on schedule, the Vikings have a solid No. 2 in Toby Gerhart.

I love Gerhart. He is a class guy and an extremely hard worker. He will give everything he has and he has talent.

We see stories all the time about what it is like being a minority quarterback...how about a story on what it has been like for Toby being one of the only minority white running backs in the league? Apparently from what I've heard, he was treated like crap and beat all the time his rookie year. The result? He is stronger than ever.

Toby is from the old school. Smash mouth football. You need 5 yds Toby will get you 5 yards. You need 10 yds Toby will get you 5 yds. You need 1 yd Toby will get you 5. I love Chip's description as "road grader" running. SKOL

I love AP, but I must admit - Toby G is a *beast, reminds me of Mike Alstott back in the day. Powerful, strong, brutal. He will shine with this opportunity....

Am I the only fan who see Gerhart as the next incarnation of Dave Osborne (old #41)!?

fuzzypilgrim - "Toby G is a *beast, reminds me of Mike Alstott back in the day. Powerful, strong, brutal" Great comparison. I'll add he reminds me of MIKE ALSTOTT, John Riggens, AND Larry Csonka - all of whom were beasts at the RB/HB position.

Doing a story on being a white running back is just as stupid as doing a story on being a black State Supreme Court judge. What is interesting is that the 20-somethings (and younger) have let this crap go. Perhaps we should too.
