Give me a break. Why would you go and scare people like this? Let them enjoy the fair without fearing some sort of mild flu that may or may NOT come from the pigs and most likely won't affect a single person. Why is the fair even letting them in if there is any danger anyone!

Mass production of pigs is a serious risk to human health. That, combined with the fact that pigs are as intelligent as three-year-old children and the choice should be obvious... STOP FACTORY FARMING PIGS!

Maybe they shouldn't be showing swine at the fair.

YES!! Pork prices will plummet now. Hopefully I'll get lots of bacon before we all die...

I'll try to remember not to have lunch in the 4H Hog Barn. I heard a good one: The wolf said to the 3 little pigs Come out or I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house down”. The littlest pig replied, Ef off or I’ll sneeze on you!

I am hoping people will take this with an insulting grain of salt. And, shame on the folks bringing this all on. Sheesh

So what happens if a bunch of people get sick and no warnings were issued? Life is a bunch of chances and hopefully most people won't get sick. But like most diseases, this seems to impact the young, potentially the old and those with auto-immune diseases (I fall in the latter category). Being careful in a number of ways is a common trait among our current group of humans.

Thanks Michael Osterholm, Next your going to ask that everyone quit breathing so we can prevent the flu as well. Nice scare tatic by the paper and this guy right before the state fair, most likely to get his name in the news. No reported deaths or serious illness to date from this strain. According to the CDC,"The symptoms and severity of H3N2v illness have been similar to seasonal flu.".

I've been wondering about this for a few weeks. Osterholm is a nationally recognized public health expert, i trust his judgement on this. On a "risk / reward" analysis, this is a no brainer. close the pig barn
