A month-old ordinance allowing golf carts and all-terrain vehicles on city streets has attracted little cart action but nearly 50 ATV drivers.

I've already had a couple 'close calls' with 2 ATV's with small children on board as passengers on seperate occasions. We have 4 of 4 intersections that are partially blind due to trees / etc... What happens when my Auto is blindsided? Will it be 10% City fault for passing this assnine ordinance??? It's time for "Ramsey to leave Ramsey" - Sara you have my vote in Nov. The government does not need to legislate safety! sn8, What if another car broadsides you? Do you somehow feel better about that? If there are sightline issues, solve those! This issue is simple, people need to be responsible for their own actions, and the city should not be stealing our liberties to instill some sort of false sense of safety. Responsible people should be allowed to act responsibly. Way to go Mayor Ramsey!

Oh, and when will we get some responsible reporting from our biggest newspaper? The drinking/driving issue is a straw man. Those people can and do drive cars now. I'd much rather have them in a smaller light-weight electric vehicle. Should we ban golf carts because someone may put a grenade on the front seat? Perhaps we should ban bicycles because someone could be intoxicated on one of those... Wake up people!

If I voted in Ramsey I would vote for Ramsey, It's all about personal freedom. Why should these vehicles be any different then cars.

I think the real point here is that this is the perfect example of how local government needs to solve local issues, instead of a general statement of how government is too limiting. In some places I am sure this makes a lot of sense, and in other places, not so much.
