U football: Soaking it in during two-a-days practices

Grueling two-a-day practices help the Gophers prepare for the season's grind, but a team within the team also gets a workout.

Yaaaaawn!!! Still a whole lotta garbage wearing maroon and gold for the football program these days. I hope everyone is ready for a 4-8 season.

goalieguru, please leave your trolling to your front porch. The new staff have something going on and I hope they get the most out of what they have. The academics are really being pushed and success will follow. Why trash others you are not a part of?

It might be worth playing football just for the food! Do the three meals a day continue all season or just during camp?

The two reporters are worrying about Gopher game attendance as well as the depth or lack of it of the team. Seems like a Catch-22 at work here. If the team (once again) does not have enough depth, they will continue to to be less than a .500 team and the attendance will continue to lag as a result. Being off-campus for nearly 30 years along with generally hapless performances on the gridiron are big obstacles to overcome and something that will not happen overnight. I would like to see Kill success to halt the long train of mediocrity that has been Gopher football for so many years As such,I am looking forward to their first game in Sin City in a few days to see if the team has improved or if they still are just another sluggish and slow starting rendition of Gopher football. Some of the smart guys have suggested that their first four games against non-conference opponents should all be wins for the local lads. On the other hand, we have been subjected to that same kind of spin for so many years that most of us will not believe it until we actually see confirming results on the field. Gray's accuracy and patience in the pocket supposedly has improved but we won't know for sure until we have watched a few games into the season. If by then, his completion percentage is still at or below 50% and if he once again is the leading rusher on the team, we will know that he has not improved as has been claimed.

Great article! Nice detail on the "behind the scenes" support our team gets. This helps illustrate the amount of resources it takes to stay competitive.

Seems like a lot of time and money wasted on an 0-12 team to me.

Gophers and Vikings each won 3 games last year, yet Gophers continually get mocked and Vikings get all the coverage. In my opinion, the Gophers need only win 2 Big Ten games and wind up in in some sort of low-level bowl game, and the Vikings--with 0 wins against any team in the North Division last year--would need to triple their wins to get a chance at the post season.

The Gophers and Vikings both get mocked because they suck. How can you support a team that doesn't belong in the Big 10 and continually get pounded by teams in the Dakotas?

TO my knowledge this is the first time this amount of detail behind the scenes has been reported. It may seem boring to many, but this kind of stuff is important and contributes to winning. If Kill survives, he's on the right track, and I have confidence in the guy. completely.

God forbid they wear the same shirt at the afternoon practice without it being washed......
