"Uptown could use a good, homegrown neighborhood bar with a stellar craft beer list and locally sourced comfort food. Is that too much to ask?" Ever been to The Herkimer? Tom, you must not get to Uptown much.

Herkimer is in LynLake, not Uptown. Although if real estate listings are any indication, everything west of 35W and east of Hwy 100 is Uptown. And I must not get out much because I didn't even know The Independent closed.

The independent closed a few years ago. Long live the Smiling Moose where I met my Financee 13 years ago. As for Herkimer, while I've heard the new brewer is better, they are not what you would call a place to go to get unusual or regional craft beers. One blonde/IPA/seasonal/brownish beer please. If the Republic can put a few more Belgians and or more Browns like a Brooklyn Brown on tap and keep their price points the same as their other place they will blow up the pretty but overpriced Prime Bar.
