The words "immigrate" and "immigrant" have long had a specific meaning within countries based upon the rule of law. Essential to that meaning is that the person who physically transports themselves from one country to a new country does so in accordance with the laws of the new country. It is no mere lawyer's quibble to note that the use of the word "immigrant" in the above article is misleading. The consequences of accepting this new, and politically-correct, meaning erode the rule of law upon which civilization is based. Orwell recognized this. https://www.mtholyoke.edu/acad/intrel/orwell46.htm

For Democrats: 1.7 million new voters. For taxpayers: millions more people to educate, feed, and provide housing and healthcare for. Democrats are great because they give free money to people. Yup.

What happens to these people if the Dream Act is never passed? It seems that this is a big stretch for the President to make, just to get votes, and not thinking of the unintended consequences.

They are breaking the law. Doesn't matter if you are a child.

So now we get to pick and choose the laws we enforce.

I am happy for Ortiz. But I also know many legal immigrants who came on work visa a decade back. They are still in the immigration queue waiting for their green card, so that their spouse can work and their college going kids can work. It is very unfair to have the children of illegals who came as less as 5 years back to gain work permits when not allowing that to children of legal workers even if they came to the US legally, 10 or more years ago.

""It's kind of fun -- they're bringing in old school pictures, certificates that say, 'yay, you read 10 books.' They sit and sift through this stuff and have some laughs about how they looked eight years ago," Ellingson said." -- I'm so glad you are having a good time since King Obama decided to side-step the law in order to buy more votes.

BTW, I'm not holding my breath for my comments to appear as they never do, even though I have never posted anything that would violate the Terms of Use.

This is just a ploy for votes plain and simple and the obama administration has no respect for the rule of law.

How is President Obama doing this without the US Congress passing a bill on this? Seem to me like the president has overstepped his authority.

" King Obama decided to side-step the law in order to buy more votes." - for votes or whatever reason, he isn't sidestepping the law, he's saying we should ignore it. I see that as a problem and one who's consequences and logical conclusions are already leading us into a far more wasteful and lawless society than we have to require of ourselves.
