Pads on, but hands off of Peterson

Adrian Peterson and his surgically repaired left knee practiced in full gear, but drills for the Vikings star are anything but full contact.

All the Pertersons in the world can't help this poorly coached team which is getting worse by the game. I don't know why Peterson is in such a rush to get back to such a losing team. He must either like losing more than winning or enjoy the fact that he will never win a Super Bowl in a viking uniform.

This season is going to be better than most of you predict. Maybe not playoffs but we will have some big upsets and find out some great things about some of our youngers players.

Adrian Peterson is an absolute beast - a joy to watch play the game of football every week. But, the rest of this team is an absolute joke. Rick Spielman is probably the silliest General Manager in all of sports and the coaching staff is a joke. This season is going to be another bust. I'll be spending my time elsewhere this fall.

God I hope most of you haters eat crow. Despite depth set-backs, I believe the coaching philosphy and personnel choices are sound. Put that together into a positive team culture and good things can and will happen. Super Bowl, probably not. Making full strides forward, totally reasonable. AP is a beast and I love him for it.

marleywars: What "depth set-backs"? You say it like the Vikings had a bevy of talent, but were hit with some clandestine misfortune. That's not the case. They, specifically Spielman, made poor decisions which caused the ruin that is the current team. I'll start watching again when I see solid decisions leading to real, positive growth on the field. Until then, I'll find something else to do with my time. If you want to drink the cool-aid, then cheers. (But, yeah, Peterson is a monster - so is J. Allen - too bad two players does not a football team make).

"And just to make sure that message was clear, Frazier hopped into the defensive huddle just a moment before that first Peterson handoff to reiterate the orders." ---- Is Frazier going to visit opposing teams' defensive huddles starting Sep 9th to ask that they tackle AP gently? If he's not fully ready NOW, he won't be in less than 30 days time.

Oh, you don't know how I would like to eat crow as well, but I just look at our division, and then look at our team, and think we could have one of the best offenses in the NFL. So why doesn't it happen? You can read the rest of the comments to find out. As for defense, I have no hope. Jared Allen predicted Robison would have his best year ever. Doubt it.... and as far as "hands off Peterson in practice" you could have the current crop of linebackers try to tackle him and they would whiff.... I will watch, again, this season, and hope for the best, because I have bled purple since the first day of the first year. However, I just don't agree with what is going on with this team. If Bud Grant's son is a chip off the old block, I would welcome him to take over this team.

A nice, positive article about Peterson's amazing recovery, followed by mostly negative comments about what a failure this team is going to be...lame.

Vikings coaching staff has no idea how to utilize Peterson. He should have been held out of a meaningless game and the knee injury would have been avoided. The opposition will go after his knee immediately and he will be out before the season starts. Trade him to a team who can utilize his talent.
