The good news from the team's preseason loss to the 49ers is that first- and second-year players are stepping up.

Spielman believes Kalil has a chance to be a "unique" left tackle. What does that mean?

There are some glaring questionable areas. You can focus on the positive areas if you want, but those do not win ball games. Once again, the vikings will have one of the poorest defenses in our division. We still need to find some pretty good wide receivers to stretch the field, or Peterson is going to get pounded on again and again from safeties and linebackers ignoring the passing game. We have Harvin, who's dedication is questionable whether you like it or not, and then there is Webb, who is so athletic that it is a real shame watching him hold a clipboard on the sidelines, when he could be running pass routes. And when is somebody going to teach Peterson to catch the ball out of the back field? I hope I am wrong, but I do believe that by week eight, we will again be talking about the exact same problems we were talking about last year, in week eight.

I realize some starters weren't in, but that run defense was scary aweful.

Since when is 6'3" 210 pounds not prototype size for a QB?

3 wins if they get some breaks, new coach next year. Mark it down.

Could have done without the Valencia catches a big "break". Seriously, you could not come up with another way to phrase the situation?

fdrebin; You may have a point, and if you are correct, let's hope the Vikings don't hire the first person that walks through the door as they have with the last several coaches.
