It would be nice to have service in Whittier... We're not even a dead zone but there isn't an active signal within three blocks of my apartment building.

A taxpayer-subsidized wireless internet provider and the citizens will only save $5 a month on their internet service? Guess I will keep connecting to one of the twelve free WiFi networks on my block.

Is there a press release from this company that you won't turn into an "article"? Time after time we see these articles about what progress they've made and as far as I can tell (as a resident of the Wedge), they simply had no clue that they would be unable to provide service to one of the most densely populated parts of the city. Excellent planning on their part. Outstanding due diligence on the part of the city. What a fabulous success. And so I'm stuck with Comcast.

Have it. Pay $15 a month. $5 for modem rental. Beats Comcast by a mile. Great, if you can get it.

i find it ridiculous that they would develop a wi-fi network and leave out a huge portion of the city. what abismal planning on behalf of the city! thrilled to know that my tax dollars have gone to a service that i can't use and judging from the "updates" on their website - doesn't look like we will get it anytime soon. what a complete waste. i hope that they do not do a big launch on this complete with fanfare and parades as it is NOT completed and will NOT be until there are NO GRAY AREAS!!! that would be successful - this is just half a**ed.

I with hold my complaints about the WiFi project in general and keep my comments about this article. The article says the project is completed, but an area near Nokomis is not included. That does not qualify as complete. I also looked at the company’s map (USI Wireless). It shows the area near Lake Nokomis as much larger than 3 square miles. It also shows another large area of East Minneapolis near the river is not included either. The article didn't mention this. The quality of this article is very disappointing.

"A taxpayer-subsidized wireless internet provider and the citizens will only save $5 a month on their internet service? Guess I will keep connecting to one of the twelve free WiFi networks on my block." Free? You're free-riding on an Internet connection someone else is paying for. Great example!

I live in the dead spot encompassed by the "three-square-mile area near Lake Nokomis". When will that area get service? By March 29? By summer, when the "Lake of the Isles to Loring Park and Lowry Hill" dead spot is addressed? Some other later time? Neither the article nor the usiwireless website address this question, which is ironic considering that "almost done" is the headline. When is done?

I live in a pilot neighborhood, Cedar-Riverside. It's never worked on my block. My neighbors and I are fed up with this company, promising new nodes, upgrades, etc. The sold me a $100 thing that has to be plugged in (not exactly wireless, plus it still doesn't work). Everytime I've called I get a different story. Gave up and went back to comcast.

Apparently folks are not aware that there are no tax dollars devoted to the project. It's a private venture. The city gave them the right to develop the network but did not put any money in the project.
