Worst thing that ever happened to Minneapolis & St. Paul! Took a lot of the life out of those cities at least a lot of retail buisness.

Too bad most of us millennials don't make enough money (and won't for the foreseeable future) to prop up the MOA. We'll need the small % of us who are making decent incomes to pick up the slack. The rest of us will avoid that over-priced tourist trap and spend our HARD earned dollars at discount retailers.

The MOA will be even more popular if it can convince attractive millenials to promenade the mall for others to see. Unfortuneatly, they need money to buy things and pay for gas and the unemployment rate for millenials is high.

I can't believe that is has been 20 years. When the Mall opened, I thought it was a "dumb" idea. However, after visiting/shopping there, I have enjoyed it everytime. There is a store for everyone and everything. I have since moved, and don't get to the Mall a lot, I do miss it. I still remember tha I could do a whole Mall walk in about 2 1/2 hours. It was just great! With this Mall opening, I also enjoy to other Malls (i.e. Southdale, etc.). So when the Mall opened it did not take away my other trips to other Malls. I hope the the MOA can keep going and yes, I will be stopping in again.

I took my kids there for opening day...my son pulled a newspaper box over onto himself, screwing around, as 4 year olds are want to do. He was pre-school aged then. Today, he's waiting on a kid of his own. 20 years? Already? Wow, I'm old.

Do you enjoy the Hollidazzle parade in d-town Minneapolis? Thank the Mall of America, and the retail competition it represented, for starting that tradition...

No thanks! I'd rather do my shopping in Uptown or Downtown! No tourist trap for me!

It probably collects a lot of tax revenue from people flying through, but I've only been there 3 times. I go to Menards weekly.

Amazes me all the "hate" when it comes to a large, successful operation that hires so many Minnesotans and pumps so many sales, real estate and payroll taxes into the local coffers. Many of those sales tax dollars (not to mention hotel and gas taxes) come from out of state people who don't get the benefits of our state government spending. Not to mention how many Minnesotans think nothing of "saving" on sales taxes by doing their own shopping on-line instead of in any local business. Regular "Dale" type regional malls are hurting badly in most American cities---due mostly to on-line competition, not some mega-mall in their backyard. Even if you don't like going, Minnesotans should be glad we have it.
