Vikings OK on offense, but defense doesn't do much

The Vikings offense opened with two field goals, only to see the 49ers respond with touchdowns both times on their way to a one-sided victory.

Thank you Dan for calling out the Vikes defense and Webb's ineffectiveness as well as the WRs dropping catchable balls. Doesn't matter if it's a preseason game, players got to play smart, hard and effort. The missed tackling and bad angles to the ball carriers were horrible. Giving up 250 yards at halftime does indeed is a concern!

I know it was a pre-season game, but I still wanted to scream at the attitude...People standing around, no hustle, dropped balls, bad tackles... They started in right where they left off from last season...I thought the only one that truly looked as though he was trying was Webb... He can't catch them too.

One more thing... I blame the coaching for everything I said in my last post.. It didn't work last year, and if tonight was any indication (I watched the game here on the West Coast) the coaching still sucks...They need to get tough and instill an attitude.. An attitude like the 49ers had maybe.

I am getting tired of all the backhanded compliments about Toby Gerhardt. Tonight I heard "If you need 5 yards he will get you 5 yards, if you need 10 yards he will get you 5 yards." Last year I heard that same quote in 3 or 4 games. If you lined up every running back in the NFL that is 230 lbs (+), he would probably beat every one of them in a foot race. Last year he ripped a 76 yard run against the Redskins. He out-ran the LB and SS. The CB finally caught him from behind.

Ponder looked like an NFL quarterback and it appears we have a kicker...otherwise they're a mess...can't catch, can't tackle.

Does anyone really expect this team to win more than 3 games? If so, please explain how...

Meh, it's the first pre-season game. You know how much I think pre-season matters. About as far as I can throw my car. Remember when the Lions went 4-0 in the pre-season and then went on to have a nice 0-16 season. That should tell you how much pre-season really matters.

"For those looking for positive signs out of the Vikings first-team offense, those surfaced early. On the first two possessions, the Vikings produced two scores." What?? That's a positive sign??? They always score early, then fall apart by the end of the game. You can set your watch by it. Beat the rush of calls for it and cancel the new stadium now and give them bus tickets instead. It'll be a lot less painful.

Webb looked Awful, they either need to change his position or cut him, he's not going to be an NFL QB, not even a back up.
