Souhan: On team full of stars, Love finds his niche

After playing sparingly in exhibition games, the Wolves' star forward has become a key if overlooked player on the U.S. squad, an ideal fit for a team filled with long-range shooters and aggressive slashers.

Hmmm...Love is the leading rebounder on this team. He is among the field goal percentage leaders. His plus-minus is way up there. But wait, he isn't from NY or LA. He is not one of the NIke poster children. And, Oh yeah, he is Caucasian.

His defensive game is a shame. He gives up as many points as he scores. Play some defense, and carry the team for stretches in a season before you start demanding a max contract loaded with money. 2nd or 3rd option on most teams in the nba.

This USA team is going to win. I'm not sure team is the right word, but for now it will do. They did play "some" defense this time around but still haven't figured out the European style of penetrate and kick it out for a three. There were a couple times on offense, when someone actually passed the ball, but most of the time it was the same old, same old.... one guy putting on a move, and the other four guys spread out, standing around, watching. The USA has run up against a couple of good teams now, and the score was close through three quarters until depth wears out the other team (notice all the three point front rims and air balls from the opposing team in the third?). Next time around, whoever coaches in 2016 needs to take a look at how the international game is played, choose some guards that can shoot lights out, and decent bigs on the inside that can rebound with the best of them.

av vaj; clearly you dont watch much basketball. k love is easily the best at his position currently in the league and when the game matters he has been mr clutch. i will agree he needs to play some better D but his rebounding and ability to score from all over are 2 reasons the t wolves are ever in games let alone winning.

I am glad that he is playing and deserves to be there. Love has shown that he is one of the top players in the world. Go Timberwolves and the U.S.A. Olympic Team.
