Who is this guy? Where did Rivals have him ranked? Cannot be that good if he decided to play for the gophers..... they will win maybe 4 games this year..

Thanks tackfan for your insight. Just another fan that has no idea what he's talking about. If you did, you wouldn't hold Rivals to such a high standard. Marion Barber: 2 star recruit. Eric Decker: wasn't even ranked by Rivals. Russell Wilson: 2 star recruit. The list goes on and on.

Problem with college sports these days is the teams play lesser teams in preseason so you have little evidence to determine how good the team is. The gophers easy schedule will allow four early season victories before the Big Ten season. I look back to the days fans would look forward to playing the notorious winners in preseason.

Still way to early, but a number of things to hope for, RB comp, d-line, young w-out group, and the o-line have a chance to be good. Less than 3 weeks and we'll have a much better idea where they're really at.

hjlazni: "gophers easy schedule will allow four early season victories...". Except that the Gophers usually lose their non-confernce games too, especially to schools in the Dakotas. Can we just admit they always suck and move on....

I have to agree with woolsey... Decker was an elite college receiver and will likely put up pro bowl numbers with Manning qbing the broncos this year. Bet Rivals didnt predict that

"Who is this guy? Where did Rivals have him ranked?" According to the article, his name is James Gillum. He plays running back for the U of M and is from Pearl River, Louisiana. Reading further, you can also find out that he played two years of JC ball before coming here. Rivals rated him as a 3-star running back.

He'll flop...book it! His OL is weak, young, inexperienced and can't take a hit. Should I continue?

It would be nice if the Tribune censors would have some backbone and remove the comments of those bloggers that constantly assail the University of Minnesota football team (and everyone knows who those bloggers are), as opposed to those of us calling them out for their snarky comments!
