Some how I do not believe Bills "not for the but for the little guy" mantra. The current crop of repubs are for the "big guy" .... always.
Sorry Kurt, someone who got a B.S. in secondary social studies education, B.A. in US history, and M.A. in education from Winona State University doesn't strike me as a person who should be teaching economics. Maybe it's enough for high school students in you and the school board's opinion, but it's definitely not enough for a US senator. I had HS teachers that taught outside of their field of study and from what I remember they typically weren't worth a bag of plug nickels unless it their field of study. Sad part was many of the "multi area" teachers also had ego issues, i.e. they thought they knew everything.
Should we kiss up to the farm lobby? This will keep food prices high by hamstringing the free market. We would not need food stamps if the free market was left alone.
Hey Danderson60, Impugning candidate Bills' credentials and abilities because he didn't attend the "right" university is called elitism. FYI, 55% of current US senators have law degrees, 16% have Masters (like Bills) and the rest have Bachelor's degrees. Please post what specific points of contention you have with Bills' positions.
danderson60: "...not enough for a U.S. Senator..." really? Because the current crop of "elites" (Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, et al) has done such a fine job with the economy? Your elitism shines right through. It really isn't that hard. Get gov't out of the market and stop spending. I'll bet more people from your "elite" schools have been involved in ruining the economy than people from other schools. And the farm lobby and farm subsidies are nothing more than corporate welfare operating under a phony premise that it's all about the family farm. Farm subsidies actually increase costs for all of us.
danderson60 - If Kurt Bills' educational resume is inadequate for being in the US Senate, then how is it that Al Franken is qualified?
AK47: Franken's a comedian. They need some half-time entertainment. That is his qualification. (I think some might say he's a comedian, but I never found him or his misogyny to be very funny.)
Good for the Farm Bill, Amy and Al... Now get FEMA to free up money to flood victims in Northern Minnesota.. Dayton appealed it, work to get it reversed and approved ....
Amy Klobuchar is making hay at FarmFest soon to smell like manure after it is all digested in the next election.
Bills..."we have to stop spending", unless it benefits corporate America and the wealthy right, then spend away. So Republicans want tax breaks for the richest one percent but don't want to help out poor farmers. Republicans are interested in helping people who already have the means to help themselves while turning their back on the people who truly need the help.
