based on my own experience this year, I'm surprised at the optimism in this piece. I saw MN grown sweet corn at Cub a week or two ago and it was the most pathetic-looking corn I'd seen. I'd have been ashamed to sell it. I bought some at the produce stand at church last Sunday after the lady assured me it was great. I trusted her (we were in church, for cryin' out loud) and bought some without peeling back the husks. It was no better than the stuff I saw at Cub. If anyone knows where to get some good, locally-grown sweet corn on the East side, please comment. If not, at least I'll have the corn at the fair to look forward to.

The corn I bough at the State Capitol farmers market (every Friday) was not bad. It's from Cottage Grove. I saw a lot of semis hauling sweet corn out of Renville County on my way to FarmFest. The corn there looked pretty good.
