You can stop crime with technology. All that is needed here is a few cops willing to do something about this. Apparently the chief is not one of them.

Classical Music? SERIOUSLY??? There is so much wrong with this I don't even know where to begin...music calms the savage beasts? Tell you what, the thugs who rob people at the LRT stations are robbing the people who actually enjoy classical music!

Why does the design of the Lake St. Station make it vulnerable to crime? One would think the designers would have taken that into consideration.

I think we need to spend more of taxpayers money on new social programs that will get these thugs off the street, more taxpayer money for a new enclosed station, and more taxpayer money for more cops.

So, the design of the station makes for more chances to have crime and trouble? What the heck were officials thinking, then, when choosing and paying millions for station design -- everybody KNOWS Lake St. and 35W is a bad neighborhood. There's plenty of good science on designing architecture and materials to reduce crime but instead they went for what -- looks? Once again, politicians demonstrate that they're dumber than the average citizen.

Wow! I feel safer already. I might be dead or bleeding but at least they got a picture of someone in a hoodie.

We have a great transit system, and despite all the teaparty fanatics who will jump on this story and bash light-rail, the system is overall very safe. I will be damned if I will let the little criminal creeps scare me away from riding the system, but the Metro Transit Police need to crack down on this hard, and the MPD needs to back them up. If we just run away, the criminals win.

There's a cop shop two blocks from the station. Maybe they could put a real live cop there. Now *that* would make a difference that high-tech cameras won't.

If the classical music comes from MPR, then once the member drive hits there will be riots again. LOL

Over time do you think turnstiles will be more expensive than all the gadgets and police time responding to calls? How much money did the burn playing music? Now another 100k, how much next? The train is going to be there for decades, but turnstiles are too expensive? Nice long tern thinking.
