It was the same knee he hurt during his junior season at Arkansas.

Well let's hope he can come back next year. It can't be good with him having so many prior injuries and then having to play on artificial turf.

Time to give Plexico Burress a call and sign him up for 1 season.

Simpson out for 3 games, childs, and carlson hurt, so we basically have the same exact offense as last season with a not 100% A.P. and our starting QB has 1 career win. Any more injuries on offense and this is going to be very ugly

I was at practice last night but left before the injury. It is weird, because I was already going to post that his right knee looked injured even before the "new" injury. His knee did not look right (in my nonprofessional impression) even early in practice. I think he might need a year on IR even if there is nothing new wrong here. He is a big, strong-looking wide receiver, but I think he has been playing on one leg. I wish only the best for him, and I hope everything I said is wrong and he will be back on the field quickly.

This will be Zygi, Speilman and Fraziers excuse as to why they did not win their division???

Does anyone see a pattern here. Carlson, one of our new TE's, has been injured, for the last couple years, but Spielman signs him for 25 million, and Carlson gets hurt in training camp. Now Child's, who has been injured for the last couple years, was picked by Spielman, with a fourth round pick, and also gets injured in training camp. Am getting very tired, with Spielman's on the job training, of how to pick quality NFL players, and as a fan want a competitive Viking team.

bengraved - And AP was a supposed injury risk coming out of Oklahoma and that's why he fell to the Vikes. Jamal Lewis tore his LCL in college. Terry Allen, two years removed from tearing his second ACL ran for 1300 yds and 21 TDs. And the list goes on...Just because a player is injured doesn't mean you don't draft or sign a player its a bad argument. Most players are injured at some point in their career.

This is what happens when you take chances on the talented but often injured.

Looks like the Vikings will have to decide whether Childs has shown them enough to warrant keeping him on the roster even if that means IR for a year depending upon the severity of the injury. I was hoping this kid would be one of our starters at receiver, but he seems not to be able to avoid injuries.I hope the injury is a mild sprain but he had to be carted of the field, that doesn't sound to promising.

Was looking forward to seeing this kid play. Was reading all the training camp blogs saying how he could make the athletic catches with defenders draped all over him. Coach was saying that ability is exactly what we need and he was spot on. Two days later Childs is gone for the year and maybe forever. Terrible news.
