I'll also help to ensure run down vacant properties are less likely to bring down property values, keeping them well maintained is important until they are sold. As council women I'll work with city leaders and residents to build a stronger economy; attracting new homeowners to unsold properties, and reducing crime for safe and stable neighborhods, - Reva Chamblis For Brooklyn Park City Council.

None of the candidates addressed the root of most of the problems here in BP- too much cheap rental housing, especially in the Zane Ave Brooklyn Blvd area.

Here we go again...blame the renters. I've lived in an apartment in Brooklyn Park for 14 years...yes, FOURTEEN years. I'm not a criminal, I'm not a transient renter, and I pay my own way without help. I cannot afford to purchase a home nor do I want the financial responsibility of owning one. Don't cluster stereotypes into groups. Just because I rent doesn't make me a burden to society. We have many good neighbors and families that live in our complex and for all of us to be labeled as societal dengenerates is unfair and unjust. Do we occasionally get problem tenants? Yes. And our management does a wonderful job of ousting them or making them shape up. The issue is not the type of housing, but rather the slumlords that sit back and collect money while not caring about the condition of their property or the activities that occur there. Everyone needs a place to live and something that's affordable across all income levels. The foreclosure bubble is a perfect example of how people that had no experience or means to maintain a residence had no business owning a home. And you know what most of those people are now? Renters. What a tail-chasing scenario. In the end every one wants to make money off of you without considering what your best interest is.
