These training camp reprts suggesting that a player looks to be "improved" after 1 week of training camp where you are not allowed to hit the QB have absolutely NO MERIT whatsoever!!! I'm completey amazed that even such reports are allowed to go to print, how in the world can any reporter justify these claims unless they have nothing else to report and even then it reeks of amatuer homeristic nonsense. Get back to us about Ponder's so- called "improvement" when the games begin to count in September!!!

Spielman's plan to rebuild on the cheap has already shown holes. Spielman has spent valuable resources on oft-injured players like Carlson, Schwartz and Childs, and all will miss significant time barely a week into camp.

Vikesjnx's comment about Ponder is spot on. Flash back to 2011, once Ponder started to get hit and bounced around a bit, he clearly wasn't the same QB. Then the injuries mounted, as did the losses. Let's see what Ponder looks like after a few preseason games.

I was at camp yesterday and Webb looked much better. All Ponder can hit is the 15 yard slant and has little accuracy down field. Webb threw the best pass of the day to Simpson who had burnt the CB for a TD. He hit a variety of other routes. Ponder missed everything over 15 yards.

In addition, Webb's athleticism is nullified by zero contact. Every time a defender get a finger on the QB the play is over. With Webb his skills are not highlighted until he is escaping. To say he is struggling when he doesn't play to his strength is misleading.

"Vikesjnx's comment about Ponder is spot on." No its not. How else should people be expected to judge Ponder during training camp?? If he was stinking it up all training camp, would you judge him in a negative way saying he hasn't improve? I tend to think that's exactly what people would be saying. It works both ways. If Ponder is playing better in training camp than last year, that should only boost his performance in actual games. And at this stage in their careers, Ponder is a better Qb than Webb. I tend to lean on the coaches with this belief. Webb can someday be better, but as of now it's good he's focusing on one position and learning.

Jordan Todman is SO talented. Despite his ankle injury, it will be a true shame if Hilliard beats him out for the #3 RB position. No offense to Hilliard, but Todman is so much more talented.

Still trying to justify taking a 4th round QB in the 1st round? Ponder is what he is,a decent NFL "backup QB", not a starter and never will be.

I can only speak for myself, a 40 yr fan of the Vikes. I hope Ponder improves over what Dalton accomplished, seeing how he was picked much earlier than Dalton. After watching the likes of Brooks Bollinger, Spergeon Wynn, Holcomb, and countless other scrubs it's hard not to be pessimistic about Ponder but I'll reserve judgement until after week 8. Personally I don't believe Ponder earned the starting spot last year and he should have had to earn the spot this year after winning one game out of 9 starts... I don't see how opening the job to the best player is a bad idea but I guess Spielman's job is tied to him, seeing how most pundants had Ponder as a late second rd pick at best. Oh well, hopefully the kid's smarts make up for the lack of size, speed and strength that Webb has on him. Kick some butt CP or ol Joe be waiting to take the reigns and run wild..

What we've learned: Players are labelled "injury-prone" for a reason. What needs to happen: Sign guys that didn't miss most of the previous season due to injury.
