Hey I have a good one for you! This article talks about "a saturated buffer system". Can anybody tell me another name for "a saturated buffer system"? It is called a wetland. Don't tile all the wetlands and maybe a farmer won't have to pay for " a saturated buffer system".

There is no question that everyone who uses the land has a responsibility to protect it and the water supply for future generations. While farming is just one of many human activities that can influence water quality, the fact that Minnesota farmers manage nearly half of the state’s land, and thus have more influence than most, also means that farmers are actually doing much to sustain natural resources than most people realize.

I'm glad to see a landowner taking pride in his property and trying to keep it eco-friendly but conservation is not the role of government. The taxpayer should not be funding these projects.

Gotta say I just don't like the term "conservationist". Sounds too Obama/do-gooder for me. Conservationist is too much like environmentalist which is too much like socialist, to my way of thinking. I'm a typical hunter/trapper, and I believe time worrying about the future is wasted. They are just animals. Once we harvest the last wolf, we will still have bear, and then deer. If the land owner wants to preserve critters for me to kill, that's very nice of him. I won't be joining him in the effort, however.
