The small-market Brewers should have been on the chopping block. Any success baseball has had under him is because even a guy like Bud can't ruin the grand game.

Bud is a shameless self promoter who was bullied by large market powers, thus fostering a lack of competitive balance.

Bud is a $17M a year joke as a commissioner.

The guy is a milwaukee sed car sales guy trying to pawn off Carlos Gomez to some for a deal. He is also the only guy to ever end an all star game in a tie, what a derp. He let steroid cheater Barry bonds stay in the game to taint the all time hr record of Henry Aaron. He tried to get rid of kc, minn and Pitt when his own dump house of a team was worse then those teams. Good riddance!!!!

On the All-Star tie game - - - - What was Selig supposed to do, call the dugouts in the seventh inning and warn them they were using up their pitching too quickly? - - - - - The next day when I heard several complaints about the tie, I asked them "Who won the all-star game last year?" and they couldn't remember.

Baseball has improved its attendance because it has expanded the playoffs.Adding another wild card team was a good move.In the American League in the 1960's some pennant races were over by Memorial Day.There is more fan interest because more teams are in a pennant race. The Minnesota fans have shown this year that they are NOT fair weather fans. They will support the Twins through thick and thin.

An added round of play offs in baseball, while good for the keeping interest in the season, I'm concerned about the weather for baseball in the Northern cities for the World Series. If the WS goes 7 games the last game will be played on October 31. Many cites will be having games played in high 30's-low 40's during the evening times. Will this adversely affect the quality of play?

Sidster good article..... but you should have included how ridiculous it is to have outdoor baseball in Minnesota without a retractable roof. Sid you being the knowledable guy you are. Tell me that you don't remember why Calvin Griffth wanted a indoor stadium in the worst way? I am 53 years old and remember exactly what he said. He said and new that a big reason attendance was hurting him was because he knew that allot of the draw at the gate came from out state or from people who lived a 100 miles or more from the cities. Many would come from South and North Dakota southern minnesota Iowa and some from Wisconsin. And many of us would not go to a game if there was a chance of a rainout or hot muggy or very cold weather. Many would book hotels and make a weekend of it. But not I or many others would not now or in the future do it if there is a chance of a rainout. I just talked to someone the other day and they said the Twins org. called him and asked him in a survey before they built the outdoor stadium how many games he would be likely to attend if it was strickly a outdoor stadium, and he replied maybe half as many as he would if it were a retractable roof stadium. The new stadium is the only reason why attendance is up. Wait until the newness wears off and see how many fans attend games in the cold, heat, and possible rainy days. Big time screw up for this state in not building a retractable roof stadium.

northill: you said Minnesotans aren't fair weather fans. Sorry to burst your bubble but once the newness of the stadium wears off and we become a perrenial loser, attendance will decline dramatically. No retractable roof will hurt Minnesota allot. I've talked to allot of people that have been to a game lately and they all thought it was unbearable in the heat. Sure the game is a game and in reality that is all it is. You go there for entertainment as we all do.
