Every dollar of this should be reimbursed by the designers and constructors of the bridge, period.

"the span's design allowed winds as light as 5 to 10 miles an hour to compromise the cables." Who at Hennepin County signed off on this? And have they been fired yet? URS, at least, has had its name rightfully run through the mud in this town. Would be nice if there were some accountability among the career bureaucrats responsible for this debacle.

Seriously? Where can I apply to get a bottomless money pit installed in my back yard?

Seems like a lot of money to spend just because some people can't figure out to cross a street. Maybe they should have gone with a simple and effective design like the other pedestrian bridge that's a couple of blocks away.

Just raise bike lic to $150, and make it a toll bridge for bikes $30 each way, should pay off the difference in 10 years

Leave the support scaffolding up, continue to use the bridge as is, and please do not spend any more taxpayers dollars on this engineering blunder.

Ok, highlife75. Let's do that! $5 per person to cross the Sabo bridge and the same for everyone crossing the 35W bridge by car. You know what? They would both be paid off in five years. Oh, you thought car bridges were free, didn't you?!

And for you, jbpaper. The 35W bridge seems like a lot of money to spend just because some people can't figure out to cross a river.

Send the bill to URS.

The unused multi-million bicycle bridge to nowhere - a fitting monument to Congressman Sabo.
