For every good trade that Twins GM Terry Ryan has made in July, there's one that he might like to have back.

I saw Matt Kinney pitch as an Arkansas Razaorback down here in Northwest Arkansas. He had "nasty" stuff but never made it to the bigs. Probably working for Wally World now.

Yes, Kyle Lohse has flourished with the Cardinals. But, he was just 51-and-57 with an ERA of about 4.50 in 5 plus seasons with the Twins. Then he was 9-and-17 with the Reds and had a brief 3-and-0 stint with the Phillies...and never had an ERA below 4.57. He was 6-and-10 with a 4.74 ERA and 4-and-8 with a 6.55 ERA in his first two seasons with St. Louis before really breaking through with a 14-and-8 record at the age of 31. Lohse is DEFINITELY a late bloomer....nobody could have predicted that and the Twins gave him MORE than enough time to develop. He showed flashes, but that not the winning consistency. I think he finally grew up and changed his attitude.

Trading at the deadline give sportswriters and now TV sports reporters something to fill the airwaves with, but realistically, but rarely do they lift a team to the World Series. Pretty inconsequential.

Lohse succeeded with maturity and experience. Like most pitchers. Both the Reds and Phils let him go after Minnesota. And if Minnesota kept him thru all that, they would have to pay him. Considering how much Twins fans here gripe about paying players, there would have been no end to that

Terry Ryan has given away FAR more talent than he has acquired. There is a reason this team is full of a bunch of losers and that is because the management and owners are a bunch of losers. And to think my tax dollars are going to this pathetic organization. Simply amazing. Would love to hear the rose colored glasses fans how losing our best pitcher for players that may never make the big league roster makes this team better. FIRE RYAN AND POHLAD...LMAO.

The worst trade the Twins did in recent memory was sending Tom Brunansky to St Louis for Tommy Herr.I feel that the Liriano is glad to be gone. Both guys we picked up will be in Twins uniforms before long.

Terry Ryan blinked, baseballs poker guru blinked. And sent him to a team in his own division.

how about trading away Castillo in the middle of a playoff race, handing the 2B job to Casilla and ticking off a couple guys you're trying to re-sign, basically closing the door on any opportunity left to sign them, since you showed them you gave up on the team to save some bucks? Very likely the trade that caused Ryan to resign.

I remember hearing that Tommy Herr cried on the plane on his way here. He went into a complete funk and never again was the same player after that.
