Best Buy ruined the Geek Squad brand. I entrusted them to make a minor repair on my laptop and they completely destroyed it. Charged me $100 for that. Funny thing is, they would gladly take it and give me a small credit towards the purchase of a new one......Scam. Best Buy and Geek Squad = CROOKS!

I would never call the GeekSquad again - I called them to assemble my new computer and they charge me $198.00 - found out I could have called Dell for free information.

Here's what continues to plague leaders at the corner of Penn Ave and 76th, they believe the cure to what ails BBY is one new strategy away. First it was Customer Centricity, then it was new store designs and color schemes, then it was the expansion of small market stores, then it was international development, then it was a re-commitment to sales excellence. And now it's the Connected Store and focusing on services like Geek Squad. What corporate leaders fail to realize or don't want to admit, is that the customer has forever changed the way they shop. No new strategy or design concept is going to change that. Unless they commit to materially changing the entire way the company conducts commerce, these new strategies are only delaying the inevitable. Bottom-line, no new signage package, store redesign or sales strategy is going to make customers change their behavior.

"Today, everyone from baby boomers to elementary school kids comfortably knows how to download apps and take photos and videos with an iPhone or Galaxy Tablet."

Uh…no, they don't. Many millions of people don't own either of those things, so to imply that they do and are comfortable doing those things is simply a lie.

But aside from that bit of nonsense, Geek Squad cannot be all things to all people; i.e, a "Jack of all Trades, Master of None". To believe otherwise is self-delusional.

They also can't be a threat to Apple, since they don't know anything about Apple computers or other their other products. I'm sure some of them know more than others, but to even suggest they know as much or more than Apple's own employees is the height of arrogance.

Aside from ditching the Geek Squad name, and those stupid titles, it's long past time to get rid of those stupid costumes they wear. You can't take anyone who wears that getup seriously.
