Frazier's goal: 'To improve across the board'

  • Article by: MARK CRAIG , Star Tribune

Vikings coach Leslie Frazier made it a mere eight minutes into his first news conference of training camp before being confronted with the "P" word ... as in playoffs ... for a team that went 3-13 and is riding an 11-game losing streak within its division.

When you are 3-13 with a winning percentage of .187 you have to work very hard not to improve from rock bottom. Even the Twins and Wild are .400 teams.

Not going to happen Leslie, the Purple, hands down, has the worst defensive backfield in all of professional football and that includes the CFL and the Arena League!!! I like Frazier but he has NO business whatsover being a head coach in this league just like Spielman has no business beng a general manager in this league. Both of the overmatched budget helper types were hired on the cheap and like the saying goes; "You get what you pay for" and a third consecutive last place finish in the NFC North Division will finally seal the fate of these two clowns and the Purple will be forced to re-build their front office if they are ever want to get more than $5.00 for a PSL in the new WilfDome.

What I haven't heard any talk of this offseason is what will happen when Ponder struggles for the first 4-5 games? No one is talking about Webb "competing" for the starting job and this is freaking ridiculous. I would've already started the guy and put Ponder on the bench based on PERFORMANCE!!! But of course, good old Rick Spielmann has to try and justify his pick instead of doing what is best for the football team and WINNING. I'm not sure why he gets a free pass on a team that hasn't made the playoffs in three years. BS!!!!

Time to face facts. Spielman is going to do what is best for Spielman, not what is best for the Vikings. Spielman's future with the team, is tied to how well Ponder plays. If Spielman would have drafted Webb in the first round, Webb would be the starting QB.

Fraziers future to the team, should have been tied to how well, McNabb played. It was Frazier's idea to bring McNabb aboard, last year.

This will be Harvins last year with the vikes and will be asked to be traded again next spring IF...they don't improve a lot this year...he thinks he's not getting enough playing time.....and how the team uses its so-called "tight ends", more or less and of course, what "Juice's" play does during the season.....

It's funny listening to all the homers talk about Joe Webb who will never win a starting QB position for any team. If Webb had any long term talent whatsoever the vikings would have never drated Ponder. Webb is never going to make it as a starting QB because he is simply a one dimensional player who can only use his legs and that doesn't cut it in the NFL and the vikings know it. The NFL is no place (if you want to win more than 6 games a season)for a WR who thinks he can play the QB position even though he is unable to read defenses or throw the ball with any real accuracy. To this day the reports on Webb is that he still is unable to look at more than one reciever before taking off and running three out of every four pass attempts and that is in practice.
