Show me the Gold. It's going to be fun to watch them hammer the other little girls across the world. Go USA.

Let's be honest, this team is great and has a lot of great players, but, we all know the rest of the world is terrible in Women's Basketball. They will have zero competition, so to say this could be the best team ever is like me putting together my old man's league team and playing my daughter's daycare, beating them, and saying 'we're the best team ever'...

Yes, they are a talented team but they will still have to play their best to win the gold. If they do win the gold, most folks will just yawn about it since it was expected. If they do not, that will be a bigger story since it will mean that in spite of their superior talent, they couldn't get it together enough as a team to win. Same for the men's team. If they win or lose, they will still fall short in the minds of many of the Dream Team of a few years ago with Bird, Magic Johnson, Jordan and so on.

Please correct the caption of the photo - the Lynx players are incorrectly identified. It should read: "U.S. women’s basketball coach Geno Auriemma has a loaded team that includes Lynx players Seimone Augustus, left, Maya Moore, center, and Lindsay Whalen, right."

mosshole - I think SNL wrote the "Debbie Downer" skits with you in mind ;) Nothing like taking an exciting time for basketball fans, seeing an amazing group of women assembled and diminishing their gold (if they do win it) medal effort but putting an asterisk on it before it starts... and it is nothing like your example. This is the best players in America vs. the best players in other countries. Right now, yes, we are ahead of the rest of the world, but not to the extent that you are portraying it to be... not even close. The rest of the world has some very good talent, is catching up to the US in some aspects and will give the US a good fight. The US women are heavy favorites but that isn't a reason why they souldn't be celebrated.

With the top three Lynx players playing on this super-talented team, the USA should easily win the gold medal. It would be a shame not to. This group of women is the ideal women's "Dream Team". Go Lynx players and USA team!
