Politics in these Olympics will never hit the crescendo of 1972. Or 1980. Or 1984. Notwithstanding the lack of acknowledgement for Israeli athletes from 72, the other stuff this time around is tabloid fodder, which is ripe for the British press.

Dip the U.S. flag when passing the U.K. royalty? That's an easy one. Just ask Mittens what to do. He's an expert on the "Anglo-Saxon heritage". What could possibly go wrong?

No dipping. We need to be courteous, but as the Declaration of Independence says, "All men are created equal." Just because you're a head of state does not mean you deserve another country's symbolic submission.

what time does this actually start? certainly not 6:40 CDT as NBC might like us to believe. But for those who actually want to watch live online, it would be nice if the newspaper weren't just shilling for KARE.
