Consistent play and pitching remain in short supply, but the Twins manager loves the challenges of the job.

Geesh Sid could you kiss Gardy's butt even more? What joke. He needed to be fired three years ago of that post season loss. Period. How can this guy still be managing? And wanting to get them to a World Series? It will never happen. He just lost 99 games last year. Never has had the ability to manage. Look Joe Girardi has done more in a lot less time than Gardy has or ever will. Must be one of your close personal friends, Sid.

Sid should go on several vacations. Enjoy the fruits of his labor. Go have fun like old rich people do. Because I'm tired of doing this thing where we all listen, nod and smile while we think, "Well, he's old. Of course none of this is even the least bit insightful or interesting.... but lets just be nice and pretend like the old guy still has it." I greatly respect everything he use to do, but clearly he is done and his bully pulpit needs to be taken away. Sorry.

Come'n Sid...why not just say if the Twins had lost 18 fewer games they would be at .500. The Twins do not match up position by position and wont even go into pitching with the likes of Chicago and Detroit. And Gardenhire with his I like our club..what's he suppose to say...he was the one hyping it all spring. He's had his chances and blown it, time to move on. What would you're close personal friend old George be doing...he'd have fired Gardenhire five times over.

Sorry Sid..but this kind of reporting is what has allowed the Twins too continue on down this path of futility. The last time I looked..a loss still counts as a loss..whether its by one run or ten. Good managers find ways to win those close..one run ballgames. In Gardenhire's case..you just pointed out it's the opposite. It's so convenient for everyone to forget what Gardenhire's playoff record is when he had a better team. He's never been able to manage the team against better competition. Feasted on the bottom-feeders for years while winning meaningless division titles...all the while posting a losing record against teams that were .500 or better. He was given this job...The Twins Way...he has never had to be accountable...why is that?

4-45..The Twins record when scoring three or fewer runs. That equates to a lot more problems than just pitching. Good managers find ways to win games..they have creative ways to manufacture runs...they position players to utilize their individual assets..either hitting or fielding...they put players in the right position to succeed..thus the team has more success. Gardo has failed more times than not to do just the simple things during a game to put his team in a better position to win. Course he loves all his coaches...what did you think he was going to say...he picked them all. Oakland, the LA Angels...two prime examples of teams that made some changes early on this season with coaches and those moves have paid huge dividends. The Twins do nothing as usual except make excuses or blame some player. I would have had more respect for Gardo had he stated he hates his job..he hates losing...he needs to do a better job...his coaches need to do better jobs...none of that was in the article. Just an on-line interview without a resume for next season.

counting the last 10 regular season games of 2010, the playoff sweep by the Yankees, 2011 & 2012 this team is 105-159. How have changes in the coaching staff not been made? Thank You Jim Pohlad!!!!!!

Gardy just sits there during the game eating seeds. He is incapable of manufacturing runs, hence the number of one run losses. When a team grounds into five double plays like they did the other night, something is wrong. The manager needs to try more hit and runs, bunts, and steal more bases. Joe Madden would have AT LEAST the nine more wins that Sid talks about with this team. DO SOMETHING DURING A GAME GARDY!!!

When I was a young boy, my HS basketball team lost a game by one point. I was walking with my father and I remember telling him that we "only lost by one point." He said, "son, it doesn't matter if it's one point or one hundred points, it is still a loss. Don't make excuses for the loss, just learn from it." Maybe Gardy and Sid should take that walk with my dad.

He may "love the challenges" of his job - now if only he were equal to them, we could have that conversation.
