Revere would have had it.

Where are all the Gardenhire apologists after that cluster of managing the pitching staff today? He literally managed the Twins out of a win today because of his stale, formulaic approach to his pen.

This is the second time in the last week, and many more times this year, that we have lost a game on a bad jump, bad route, or simply fanning on the ball by Span.

bad decisions after bad decisions, game after game....everyone who thought that taking robertson out of the game with two outs in the eighth was going to be a bad move, raise their hands....

All you can do is shake your head at this team. Their lack of clutch pitching and clutch hitting in competitive games is becoming so predictable, and actually comical. They have a fair number of decent, talented players on the team, so they really should be better than last place two years in a row in the worst division in baseball, but that's on Gardy and the staff. Perhaps it's not having quite enough talent, confidence, or leadership in big situations to overcome a challenge while on defense (like the top of the 8th in today's game), or to move the runners and get the big hit on offense (like last night's game and today's 8th and 9th innings). Where can they go from here? What hope is there? The starting pitching today was OK, and it was OK yesterday. Diamond's outings are competitive. But Blackburn is not a MLB pitcher, so they really need two more good starters. The Pohlads won't pay for them, so the team will get another Marquis-like retread next year, and hope/pray someone else develops like Diamond did this year. It still leaves the team with too few clutch hitters. Willingham cannot do it all, Mauer will never be anything more than a slap hitting singles/doubles hitter with his albatross contract. I'd say it looks like more years of bottom feeding are on the horizon.

This loss was classic Gardo. Why does a team 15 games below .500 need to rest players. Doumit in left to start the game and then taking him out was pure genius on Gardo's part. Where was his bat when the Twins needed it... Carrying three catchers because a pitcher who only plays about every five games or so has to have his very own personal one..leaves the bench short of players...Gardo's pitching match-ups are beyond ludicrous. Losing is contagious...and Gardo is making sure everyone of his players gets infected.

These guys just do not know how to win. I really don't know how to explain it. They seem to have a decent lineup. The starters were good the last two games. It seems to be all in the head; a total lack of confidence in key situations. Mauer is having a good year and Morneau has been decent but do these guys ever come through in the clutch to drive someone in? I know they get doubles and singles but the Twins would have won these last two games if the M & M boys had just succeeded once in each game when there were ducks on the pond.

I need to rethink my criticisms of Gardenhire. After seeing the moves he did today, it is clearly obvious he is trying to lose these games. He is pulling pitchers who are doing well, not playing the best players when and where they should play, showcasing Morneau instead of moving him down in the lineup and taking him out against lefties, and other nonsense. I never thought Gardenhire was a good manager, but NOBODY is this stupid. They must want to be bad enough so Jimmy can cut payroll again next year.
