Wolves' likely plans B, C and D?

Portland has until 10:59 p.m. Minneapolis time Wednesday to match the $46.5 million offer sheet the Wolves offered Nicolas Batum on Sunday. The only question that really remains is whether the Trail Blazers will take every minute to do so.

Well damn, I hope Courtney Lee doesn't sign elsewhere...

I don't want any of these guys, save our money for next year!

Courtney Lee is secretly good. If you don't want him, it's because you don't recognize the name.

Sounds like this was all "smoke and mirrors" and never going to happen. But hey, they paid Portland back by making them pay Batum way too much. I am sure it's a major inconvenience for Paul Allen to have to get out his checkbook instead of his wallet to pay a salary.

While it would be nice to get Batum, sounds like Courtney Lee would be a better value anyway, and allow us to actually sign the other guys we've committed to. Since he hasn't signed anywhere yet, and his options are getting lower, AND he likes Adelman, I'm confident in the Wolves ability to sign him this week. Then pick up Stiemsma to backup Pek, skip Jordan Hill. If he really needs $4-5M to sign him, sounds like another Kahntract......

I'd rather have Courtney Lee at $6-8 million/yr than Batum at $10-11 million/yr. Stiemsa would be a good, cheap option for an interior defensive prescence. Hill isn't any good and his skill-set adds nothing to the Wolves. Oh yeah, and he beats women.

This might sound stupid, but what about Andre Iguodola? Or is his contract too big? It seems that if we are going to pay someone the kind of money that we are to Batum, we should spend it on someone that is proven. However, Courtney Lee would be a good addition. Just not as good as Batum. But it would save us way more money for next year

I think we can use our mid-level exception to sign Roy. So that leaves plenty of cap room to sign Lee and Stiemsma.... I hope those happen along with Shved. Hill sounds too expensive.

With the Ellington/Cunningham move, Shved, Roy, and Steimsma, the wolves will have a much stronger team. Loir E. looked good in international play, probably needs another year, Williams and Johnson moving down a position SF/SG will strengthen their play. Question is D-will's quickness on defense. Hummel will be interesting to watch as will Malcolm Lee. Better to keep some cap space... we will need to make a couple moves again next season, potential for experience -- but will need to see who steps it up and performs to ability. Love, Pek, Rubio (2nd half of season) are known quanities, Luke/JJ/D-will/and Wes we have a good idea what to expect. Roy would be a top talent if healthy, Steimsma and Cunningham capable for backup at PF/C. Still leaves space for Shved, M. Lee, Hummel, and Buddinger. We learned from Beasley, that Adelman demands defense first... Defend the position he'll make a place for you.

I like Batum but I am not sure he is worth that much money.I would rather sign Courtney Lee for insurance in case Roy's knees do not hold up.Lee is a solid player whom plays a position of need for the Wolves. He would also be less expensive as others have said.So I am hoping that Portland matches this salary offer and signs him. Some Portland fans have even said that Derek Williams will be as good or better than Batum.
