My question is: how would you know this isn't the equivalent of putting a floppy disk on a headstone? Technology has changed so fast -- do we have any reason to believe 10,50 or 100 years from now anyone will still possess the technology that reads these codes? It's a nice idea to make a marker offer more, but I'd have to be convinced that something was in place to keep this from strictly being a short term option.

It works for a while until a new standard comes along and the phones no longer read QR codes. But I like the idea of memorial sticker codes on stuff like park benches and donations to museums. I think the Dakota War would speak deeply to have several QR codes right on the markers in the open grassland telling from the viewpoint of what Great Grandpa passed down. Both Indian & White viewpoints.

That is so cool...but, what I want is an artificial arm that reaches out and grabs passers by on the ankle.

It's different from a floppy disk in that the QR code doesn't store any information, it simply links to an online database. If new technology comes along then the QR code could be replaced with something else that accesses the information. Here's another company that does this: www.memoryshare.org

A front page advertisement, masquerading as a news article. And free at that. Yawn.
