Leslie Frazier was impressed by what he saw from the rookies this offseason.

The Twins'#1 pick is batting .156 in 14 games and he's already hurt and on the disabled list...sounds familiar! At least their pitchers are pitching well, let's hope that somehow they stay healthy!

Sid, you say the exact same thing every single year about how the viking's draft picks and or feee agent aquisitions ( insert names and year here____________ ) are going to make the vikings better but they never do. Last season you said free agent Donovan McNabb along with draft picks Ponder and Rudolph were going to make the vikings better and they finished 3-13. Most recently I remember when you proclaimed picks like Bryant McKinney, Troy Williamson, Erasmus James etc.. along with free agents like Berrian, Moss (the second time), Camarillo,Baskett etc.. were going to turn the franchise around. Given the fact that I recieved a viking season ticket offer in the weekly "Dollar Saver" mailer yesterday leads me to believe no one else is buying these same stories either!!!

Sid, many of us are very interested in your response to the Freeh Report at Penn State. Rick Reilly basically apologized on ESPN.com for calling Paterno a "good and decent" man prior to the report. After reading you for more than 40 years and respecting your work, I hope you do the same..

Sid is a homer and an optimist. I would rather read his opinions than all of this constant negativity. It's "sports" folks, not life and death. Keep on entertaining us, Sid it's all good.

Your unfounded optimism regarding the Vikings is wearing a little thin, and misleads fans into supporting an organization that isn't making the changes necessary to become competitive. After two last-place finishes due to inferior personnel and coaching, the Wilfs promoted Rick Spielman to GM and retained Leslie Frazier without considering alternatives from outside the organization. Sure, the Vikings improve from 3-13, but they're still expected to finish last in the division, and are nowhere near competing for a championship.

Sid, I'll always respect you as an MN sports institution, but let's be frank. Frazier is going to parrot the line that every coach in the NFL has parroted for every season since the beginning of time: the rookies are impressing. Frazier has an enormous burden on him these season; it's incredibly rare for a 3-13 coach to be retained, let alone his opinion be considered as newsworthy. Fluffy rookie predictions don't matter until the Vikes start recording W's.

Bottom line for the Vikes is results. I don't want to hear the excuses we are young and improving, it's a win now league. I don't expect a Super Bowl but there has to be improvement. Let's not hear excuses!

1-They still sound like politicians to me... 2-prplgod, Sid listens to the politicians er, coaches and jumps on their "bandwagon" every year...3-NO EXCUSES, coaches..after looking at this years schedule, anything less than 6 wins should mean termination....

"Better" is a relative term. Better than what?

I hope Mr.Fraier is right because it does not seem like the Vikes staff is to concerned about the lack of depth at some positions. There are still some Free Agents out there who may be able to help but the Vikes seem ready to go to camp with what they have on the roster. I would much rather see a young player step up and become a star for years to come rather than bringing in an aging vet for one year, but I don't have the confidence in the Vikes draft judgement that Frazier and Sid have. Hope it all bodes well, but I still think it wouldn,t hurt to look at a couple of FA's
