Besides showing that older candidates can run energetic campaigns, these two voices of experience bring useful perspectives.

I have known Rick Nolan for years as a neighbor and friend. He is a man who will hear all sides of an issue and make intelligent and independent judgements - a rare quality in Congress today.

Rick Nolan is apparently spending all his energy on triathalons, because no one here in Duluth has seen him make any effort to win our votes. Jeff Anderson is all over the district, including here in his hometown. Rick Nolan is trying to win over Duluth with the same intensity of Chip Cravaack who rarely leaves his homes in North Branch and/or New Hampshire. Rick may be doing well with metro columnists and with his home area in the western half of the district, but his lazy effort here and on the Range has everyone seeing his true age.

"Rick Nolan is apparently spending all his energy on triathalons, because no one here in Duluth has seen him make any effort to win our votes. Jeff Anderson is all over the district, including here in his hometown."-----I have seen Rick Nolan several times before and after the convention where he received a unanimous endorsement, I only saw Jeff when he was invited to speak at the convention but had already vowed to ignore the endorsement. Rick has the energy.

I met Rick Nolan when he first ran for Congress in 1972. He lost that year but kept on running and in 1974 he won. He was always so accessible as a congressman. We were able to visit him in Washington and we also met with his field representatives or attended his town hall meetings. We were able to call attention to problems and he went right to work on them. We lobbied him on issues and he listened. That was really important. We didn't represent any group. We were just ordinary people but he was always there for us. Rick is still a problem solver and still a good listener. He is also not in the pockets of the corporations. He is a man of the people. That is really important these days. I hope people will vote for him in the primary and in the general election. I know from experience what a great congressman he was and I believe he will be again.

Can we please check the bible at the door and leave religion out of politics?

Anderson should win the DFL primary. He unlike Nolan/Cravaack/Clark hasn't moved within the past 5 years for political gain. He has resided in the same place all his life! I hope he wins!

The last thing we need is another tax-and-spend liberal like Nolan. And strib, why have my previous comments not been posted? Same as above.

If we think FDR democrats are going to lead the DFL into the next millenium, then Rick is our guy. But with all due respect to his past service, it is time for this district to look to the future. Jeff Anderson is this district's future.
