This seems a little too saccharin. The better choice for a film that’s inspirational and substantive mite be "For Greater Glory". THAT one gets you going!

Having spent many years working with children, I was eager to see this. It's horrible. The father strikes and beats his daughter of times. This reviewer needs to go to the theater with people who work with battered children and listen to their reactions. A truly misleading, unfortunate review.

This film is just dreadful. First, it's one of those movies with deliberately shaky camera work. Directors, please get a clue - when the camera is shaking it doesn't make the movie seem "realistic". It's just annoying and distracting. Second, other than Hushpuppy every single character in this movie is completely unlikable and disgusting. Third, there is a bizarre subplot about prehistoric aurochs released from Arctic ice which has absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the movie. Finally, there is simply no point whatsoever to the story. Don't waste your time and money on this one.
