The Trail Blazers say he isn't moving. However, a published report says they also have been offered guard Kyle Korver and draft picks.

Hey Neil Olshey, diss on David Kahn all you want (after all, everyone else does) but don't be taking potshots at our frozen tundra or our state bird. Them's fighin' words! Seriously, bravo to Kahn if he can get this deal done for Korver and the two picks. Those picks will be late first rounders (we know Kahn's record with picks, any how) and Batum will rock in Adelman's offense with Rubio distributing. You can tell Olshey is upset with Kahn's tactics and he's stuck: he either overpays for Batum by matching the deal or he takes our offer. Either way, I like what the Wolves have done here.

ESPN reports the Wolves would give up two first round picks for a sign and trade for Batum. It's great they're being aggressive in trying to upgrade their roster, but I don't know if this guy is worth two 1st rounders.

Kahns boxing up this Olshey character. And you know the T-Wolves asked Batum to speak his mind publicly about wanting to play in Minnesota just to apply some added pressure.

Clearly no one in Minnesota has ever watched a Blazer game. Batum has gone from starter to bench player repeatedly because he has no fire, and he can't create his own shot. Since he can't hit three-pointers, you aren't left with much. He has scored over 20 points just seven times last season and had zero games with more than 10 rebounds. You don't pay someone $11M and give up two first round picks for 13 points and 4 rebounds... and that is his best season. He is a career 10-4 player. NBA wings who can produce that are dime a dozen. Incredibly stupid decision by Kahn.

othermisc, Batum hit 39% of the 3's he took last year. That's better than Kevin Love, Kevin Durant, Steve Nash, Chris Paul, etc etc. Maybe you should do some research before posting like you know what you're talking about.

I wonder how Kevin Love will feel about the Wolves front office falling all over themselves trying to pay 4 and 45 to Batum when he got 4 and 62. I just don't get their interest in this guy.

Not quite sure if this is the best tact that could have been taken. If I were Kahn, I would have cleared out the cap room, made the offer, and seen if Portland was willing to match. If they did, then talk about a trade. As is, even if Portland was just bluffing about matching that offer, they are guaranteed a couple first round picks and are at no risk of taking a salary they don't want. I like Batum, but Kahn continues to try to play poker with his hand turned up and keeps getting taken to the cleaners.

Thats a lot of money and picks for Batum. He's a nice player and would fit well but thats a lot. If we sign him to that deal he becomes untradeable. Between him Love, and the raises Rubio and Pek will be due I am concerned about our cap space and ability to make additional moves, especially without any draft picks. By the time Batums contract expires Love and Adlemans contract will be up. Is a roster with Batum, Love, Rubio, Pek capable of winning an NBA championship? I do not see it. Despite Kevins grumblings the Wolves should not do this deal. With Brandon Roy and other additions I think the Wolves make the playoffs this year WITHOUT Batum, and that should help Love tolerate being a Wolve. Hold onto the draft picks, and dont overpay Batum now....get your feet wet in the playoffs this year and get these young guys some post season experience and then pay for an UFA, but if they do this deal with Batum they are overpaying because he is an RFA.

I like the agressiveness of Kahn as well to continue to impove the lineup for a serious playoff push but trading away first rd picks and taking the sal cap to the limit won't give this team much of a chance to get any better next season. Also it looks like a 7th grader is running the Blazers and he might not be someone we should be doing business with.

We hold all the cards and advantage. We can clear the space if needed, but if Portland wants anything in return they are going to be taking junk back. No way I give up Dwill or any 1st's for Batum.
