Minneapolis South seeks to join Lake Conference

Playing a full schedule against the state's best teams is South's risky attempt of constructing a program worthy of its Class 6A status.

This is an awful idea, and would lead to the further demise of athletics in the city conference. South High has its own ulterior motives - they hope to recruit kids from suburban areas to attend their school so that they can become more competitive in football and basketball, in particular. They are losing the best athletes on the southside to Washburn, and the best students now go to Southwest. They hope to cherrypick good students and athletes from the suburbs because they can't compete in the city ... lame.
