While the alleged offense was relatively minor, the running back's high profile -- and his high-profile attorney -- ensure a media frenzy.

I doubt this lasts long. Charges will be dropped and despite ESPN's best efforts to fill airtime, something juicer on either coast will come along and all will be forgotten.

Is it OK if we think this story is hilarious? Here's what looks like happened: An overzealous mall cop decides to pick a fight with the most famous person in the bar. Said person then hires a big bucks attorney to make the bar and their "security" look like idiots. Adrian Peterson is a good guy and didn't deserve this. But I won't begrudge him fellow Vikings from cracking jokes about AP getting arrested when he should have been home rehabbing. Or at the very least hosting a house party at his (I'm sure) sweet pad in Houston.

Peterson is a complete fool for getting involved in a physical altercation with anyone. He could easily have been injured in a 3 on 1 incident. What would the fans have said then? As for the story not going away, this is only because the media won't let it go away in their effort to sell papers and have talk radio topics. This is Peterson's personal business--not the public's.

This will disappear faster than the Vikings chance to make the play-offs last season. Peterson has been a great player and team member in the communtiy. He gets a pass on this one and it will never happen again. Next topic.

AP is and has been a class act, I seriously doubt the charges will stick. Let's not forget we're talking about Texas here.

Peterson facing a minor fine for a minor misdemeanor charge and he hires an attorney which will cost him multiple times more than the simple fine. Now that really makes a lot of sense. There is no news that Peterson is filing a civil complaint against the off duty officer for striking him in the face. Hmmm! When Peterson was told to leave, why didn't he just leave or just because he's a football player he can do anything he wants like driving over 100 mph in a 55 mph zone.
