Marquis needed to work himself into shape in the minors, since missing spring training, a no brainer. Gardy and the staff start him, one of many reasons this staff must go,

The Beasley release will be remembered just like the David Ortiz release:Impatient stupidity.

Someone on the strib should write a full-length article on Frazier's trip to Afghanistan. That would be a really interesting read.

I was hoping to get some background on "All Night" Peterson, such as what his dad had to say about his experiences with the police.

Beasley is so good and may become an all pro for years to come that we released him? Is that what I read? We are giving away all pro potential? Boy, there is something about this sport I don't understand at all!!!

I hope that Bjugstad stays with the Gophers. It is always sad to see a young athlete leave school early.

If NJ was so committed to keeping him they would have signed him to an extension, a la Wild/Mikko.

Marquis' performance is exhibit A of the difference in NL vs. AL pitching. Take a large ballpark (I mean cavernous) and no DL and replace with a pitcher and see the difference. It happens every year - AL pitcher goes to the NL and has a career year. NL top tier pitcher comes to the AL and is a bust. I'm guessing you would have to pay a pitcher more to jump to the AL.
