John is the perfect example of why I hate it when people say things like "the Gophers have always been horrible". In reality the Gophers have always had some excellent players. When John played we had some excellent teams a player or two short of the best teams in the country. Rest in peace big guy! You are missed already.

This is a man that we can all easily respect and admire. He was a great example to kids and left a great legacy. It is too bad that on the weekend of his passing that we see another NFL member in the news for misbahavior at a bar in Houston. Wish the younger NFL player would be more like the senior one that passed. Thank you Mr. Williams.

Now that is a leader and role model for ALL to look up to, no matter if you are black, white, yellow or anything else. I wish more kids in North Mpls. could have gotten to know him.

"Big" John was a friend to my family and a mentor to me. The world is much the poorer for his passing. Rest in peace friend.

I was a neighbor of Mr. Williams, though I did not know him personally. He always had a hello or a kind word when I walked by his home. My condolences to his wife and family.
