For the first time ever, the benefit concert for the Basilica of St. Mary sold out its VIP tickets in advance. There's a one-word explanation.

This was my ninth BBParty, and I don't think I've ever seen so many people watching the main stage act... I can't imagine many patrons were at the other stages. Train sounded great, and it was a great followup to their show at the State Fair last year. Mat Kearney deserved the second-to-last slot, as he's much better (and more well known) than the Head & the Heart. Too bad that the little bit of rain during Kearney led to that show ending in the middle of his eighth song.

Train isn't even a good act.. it's vapid pop. Kearney is much, much better

Thanks for snubbing the big act that actually played a complete set (plus encore). CAKE rocked the block in full force.

I wish they would to just focus on secular acts and also feature Christian performers. It's a church after all.

Extremely disappointed that the Basilica didn't plan better for rain on the main stage since Mat Kearney had to cut his concert short. Their equipment was completely soaked. I'm fine standing in the rain, but unsafe for him. Didn't have a desire to go to Train. Cake was great!

AMEN! Mn1native - As former rock musician "talented" Christian bands such as Skillet, Mastedon (former KANSAS singer), STRYPER, Mark Schultz (for the mellow folks), Rob Rock (for the metal heads), Jars of Clay, a regrouping of Sixpence none the Richer, Amy Grant, Blackie Lawless, Alice Cooper, Grand Funk with Mark Farner, Comedians SINBAD and Bob Nelson (Kindergarten Cop, Rodney Dangerfield HBO specials) and tons of other bands from "all generations" and "all audiences" would be much better than the BASILICA BEER BASH 2012 = Dirty $$...perhaps BOOZE is the "new Great Commission" anyone coming to Christ at the Basilica and then going to AA or MN Teen Challenge?....would like to hear some stories from other STRIB attendees about their "faith stories."

Wow, the grammar in me comment was way off. Anyways, I with they would feature christian acts in addition to secular ones. Good christian bands like Disciple, Staple, Pillar, POD, etc.

No "faith stories" out of the Basilica bash? Hmm? Is it fair to say only hangovers and ringing ears?...Just as Christ intended it to be (sarc)

No protests this year against the Catholic church's campaign for the marriage amendment?
